Launch readiness

A practical go-live readiness checklist for monday.com teams

Use a focused review to confirm ownership, required deliverables, blockers, approvals, and exceptions before a launch or release.

Review the conditions that matter

A go-live checklist should help a team make a decision, not simply accumulate checked boxes. Define what must be complete, what cannot still be true, and what evidence will support the final call. The categories below are a starting point; adapt them to the launch, release, or handoff being reviewed.

  • Ownership: each required workstream has an accountable owner, and the final approver is identified.
  • Required deliverables: launch materials, testing evidence, documentation, and handoff items are present and reviewed.
  • Required fields: the board has the statuses, owners, dates, and other values needed to evaluate the gate.
  • Unresolved blockers: open issues have been reviewed, assigned, and either resolved or explicitly accepted.
  • Prohibited statuses: no status that blocks launch remains hidden among otherwise complete work.
  • Approvals: the people with authority have reviewed the current evidence, not only an earlier update.
  • Exceptions and waivers: any accepted exception has a written explanation and accountable decision-maker.
  • Evidence preservation: retain the scan basis, approval snapshot, and meaningful changes for later review.

End with an explicit decision

Once the review is complete, state READY or NOT READY. A percentage can summarize progress, but it should not replace the decision rule. A useful result also shows the blocker count and affected items so the team knows what would need to change before the answer becomes READY.

If the decision is NOT READY, the evidence should point to the next action. If it is READY with an exception, the waiver should remain visible alongside the approval rather than being treated as a private side conversation.

Operationalize the checklist in monday.com

ReadyCheck is a read-only monday.com Board View that evaluates board-specific readiness rules. It can check the approval item, groups, columns, ownership, required values, accepted statuses, and prohibited conditions that define your process. It returns explicit READY or NOT READY results with readiness percentage, blocker counts, and blocker-level evidence.

For recurring launch or release reviews, ReadyCheck supports Smart Map setup suggestions, reusable gate templates, scan history, What Changed comparisons, written waivers, approval snapshots, and printable readiness reports. It reads the board; it does not modify monday.com board items.

Start with the ReadyCheck Guide to configure a first gate, then compare the readiness-gate model with the evidence needed for your own go-live review.
