Build a clear readiness gate for monday.com

A checklist is not the same as readiness

Checking boxes can show that someone visited a list. It does not necessarily show that the conditions for a launch, handoff, or approval are satisfied. A readiness gate connects the work to a defined decision: what must be true, what must not be true, and what evidence proves the difference.

On a monday.com board, that model can use the groups, items, owners, status columns, and approval item your team already maintains. The goal is not to replace project judgment. It is to make the basis for that judgment visible.

Define the gate before you run it

• Required conditions: identify deliverables, owners, fields, and approvals that must be complete.
• Prohibited conditions: name statuses or situations that prevent a ready decision, even if other work is complete.
• Blockers: show affected items and the specific rule that failed instead of only showing a red status.
• Decision rule: set the conditions for an explicit READY or NOT READY result.

Preserve the reasoning

A useful readiness process records more than a percentage. The result should show readiness percentage, blocker counts, and detailed blocker-level evidence so stakeholders can see what needs attention. If an exception is accepted, record a written waiver with enough context to understand who accepted it and why.

For recurring launches or approvals, preserve scan history and approval snapshots. Comparing what changed between scans helps a team distinguish a resolved blocker from a new one. The same structure can then be reused through a gate template instead of recreated from memory.
